How much schooling do you need to become a pharmacy technician?

I’m considering becoming a pharmacy tech after I graduate. I was wondering if I need to take more schooling afterwards to become one or can I just learn my training on the job?
Also, how much do they earn per hour?
Thanks (:

I don’t know much about this topic, although I would love to be a pharmacist also
I know that on average, pharmacists usually make about $100,000 a year. Also URI has a 5 year program, and you intern in the program, so while at school you are also working and making money while also getting job experience. Plus, by being a pharmacist you can pretty much work wherever! There are pharmacies everywhere and pharmacists are in demand now!
Good luck!

well, to be honest, you dont need any schooling, as long as youre 18. how i started was i applied at a chain store pharmacy, like walgreens. they hire you, and they train you on the spot.the first day i was in the pharmacy and doing different things. you get your license through their company, which includes taking a class and passing a test, all through their program. depending on who hires you, you might be able to get certified thru them too. being licensed is just saying that your legally allowed to be a rx tech, but being certified you get paid a little more and its easier to get hired at different places. for example, like me, i started at a chain store, but now i work in a hospital pharmacy. depending where you live, what professional level youre on, and who hires you, the pay is different. at the store, i was getting 9.75 and at the hospital im getting 11.25 per hour. but hoped this helped!:)
